2-tier steel cable shelf, perfect for anywhere in the house. Made of a hand picked "rainbow" poplar board with a very colorful grain pattern, and nickel plated grommets for a modern touch. Finished with several coats of spar urethane to preserve the color. Hand sanded between coats for a lovely sheen and smooth feel. This is a one of a kind item.

Dimensions of shelves are 16" wide by 7 1/2" deep. Space between shelves is 9". Total height from top hanging loops to bottom shelf is 32". The shelf is perfect for small items. Comes two matching nickel plated hooks with hanging hardware. Other items not included (for display purposes only).

The term “Rainbow Poplar” does not refer to a separate wood species, but rather, is a designation of Yellow Poplar (Liriodendron tulipifera) that has been mineral stained. The resulting mineral stained wood—exhibits a variety of colors ranging from green, purple, black, red, etc. It is this distinct variety of colors that turns an otherwise oridnary piece of Poplar into the intriguing Rainbow Poplar. The precise cause of these streaks and discolored wood produced in certain trees is not fully understood.

Over time, the colors will desaturate and shift toward brown, but maintain contrast. To preserve the vibrant colors longer, keep the wood out of direct sunlight, and try to avoid placing it in areas of high light. UV light tends to shift the color of certain woods.
